Industrial Sensor

An industrial sensor is a device that detects and measures physical quantities, such as temperature, pressure, humidity, and flow rate, and converts them into an electrical signal. They are used in industrial automation systems and manufacturing processes to optimize processes and improve efficiency.

Industrial sensors are vital components of automated systems and are used in nearly every modern industrial process. They are designed to perform well in extreme conditions, such as high or low temperatures, vibrations, and high humidity. They must also meet strict safety and performance requirements.
Industrial sensors can be classified by the type of signal they process, including:
  • Electrical: Voltage, current, resistance
  • Optical: Reflective, laser
  • Thermal: Temperature, thermal conductivity
  • Magnetic: Inductive, magnetic field
  • Radiation: Ultrasonic, acoustic, infrared
  • Chemical: Gas, humidity
Some examples of industrial sensors include:
  • PIR sensors
Detect radiation below the wavelength of visible red light, which is essentially heat radiation. They can be used in security systems to detect moving intruders.
  • Time-of-Flight (ToF) 3D image sensors
Provide depth data in real time and are robust to ambient lightning conditions.
