Switchgear Products

Switchgear is a broad term for a variety of electrical equipment that protects, regulates, and isolates power systems. Switchgear is made up of electrical disconnects, fuses, circuit breakers, and other components that are housed in a metal enclosure.
Here are some features of switchgear:
  • Protection
Switchgear protects equipment from electrical overload and limits current flow to safe levels in the event of a short circuit.
  • Isolation
Switchgear isolates and de-energizes electrical equipment to allow for maintenance and repairs.
  • Control
Switchgear controls the flow of power to enhance a facility's energy efficiency and safety.
  • Monitoring and signaling
In addition to protection and control, switchgear can also monitor and signal.
Some common types of switchgear include:
  • Vacuum insulated switchgear
Uses a vacuum as an insulating medium, which offers excellent insulation, quiet operation, and fire-free insulation.
  • Gas-insulated switchgear (GIS)
Uses pressurized sulfur hexafluoride gas (SF6) to insulate conductors and contacts and extinguish the arc current created by an electrical fault.
Some common components of switchgear include:
Fuses, Relays, Circuit breakers, Switches, Isolators, and Lightning arresters.
